CBS has updated their Summer schedule and includes the premiere date of Season 16 of Big Brother. The reality competition series will kick off nearly a year to the date from last season’s premiere, which got off to an earlier start than usual. Also on the schedule is CBS’s new drama Reckless, and a slightly updated start date for the sci-fi series Extant.
CBS originally had Extant set to debut July 2, but they’ve pushed it back a week. Here’s the new Summer schedule for Big Brother, Reckless, Under the Dome and Extant:
Big Brother – Premieres Wednesday, June 25 at 8:00 p.m.
Reckless – Premieres Sunday, June 29 at 9:00 p.m.
Unforgettable – Premieres Sunday, June 29 at 10:00 p.m.
Under the Dome – Premieres Monday, June 30 at 10:00 p.m.
Extant – Premieres Wednesday, July 9 at 9:00 p.m.
It’s surprising that CBS took until March to nail down a date for Big Brother, but at last the date has arrived, and unless CBS is aiming to wrap up the reality competition earlier than usual, we should expect another long season. CBS offered no clues about what’s planned for Season 16, but they did include the following additional scheduling info for the first few episodes, which states that the first eviction will take place on July 3:
BIG BROTHER, hosted by Julie Chen, will debut early for the second straight summer, beginning Wednesday, June 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) with the first of its three weekly broadcasts. The Thursday edition, featuring the live eviction show, premieres June 26 (9:00-10:00 PM) with the first eviction the following week (July 3). The Sunday broadcast premieres June 29 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).
Moving on to Reckless, the drama stars Anna Wood, Cam Gigandet, Shawn Hatosy and Adam Rodriguez and is set in Charleston, South Carolina, “where a gorgeous Yankee litigator and a charming southern attorney must hide their intense mutual attraction as a police sex scandal threatens to tear the city apart.” Sounds like steamy summer fun!
Following the premiere of Reckless, CBS will debut Season 3 of Unforgettable. The series is actually currently on hiatus amidst its second season, with the remaining episodes of Season 2 set to air next month. So fans won’t have to wait very long between Seasons 2 and 3.
